Overview:
If you are ready to take the step to becoming a professional, Divemaster is your course.
The Divemaster Program will give you an instructor level of knowledge as well as practical experience working with divers and students in a supervisory position.
During the course your swimming, snorkeling, towing, rescue, and diving skills will also be evaluated and improved upon. At the completion of a Divemaster course, you will be able to carry Professional Liability Insurance and independently supervise divers.
Classroom:
The classroom portion of the Divemaster class will definitely challenge you. You will have to master such topics as:
Some of the academic portion will be self-study, and you can utilize some of the software we have written to assist you with Dive Tables, and Diving Physics. Check out our web pages on Gas Laws to brush up on diving physics, and for Dive Tables, check out The Computerized Table Tutor.
Pool:
In the pool, you will learn important concepts concerning control of students and positioning of Instructors and Divemasters. Throughout the DM course you will work with one or more of our instructors with their open water students and experience first hand how to assist divers and instructors.
Because good Divemasters are the backbone of any Instructional team, we will work hard with you, and for you to make sure you learn as much as you can. In fact to complete your DM course, you will be giving class and pool lectures to new students under the supervision of your instructor. When we turn out a Divemaster - they deserve what the title implies. We make Divemasters - not Tank-Toters. Hopefully when finished, you will want to assist us in a Divemaster capacity.
Check Out Dives:
The Open Water aspects of Divemaster are 3 fold. We will review your rescue skills, monitor your control of students, and have practical skill application exercises. (UW Mapping, search and recovery drills, etc.)
